The new Bora Ultra WTO and Bora WTO wheels

Since the launch of Bora 30 years ago, Campagnolo welcomes 2024 with presentation of an evolution in this family of wheels thanks to two new Bora Ultra WTO and Bora WTO models: refined design conceived for the most demanding cyclists, extremely precise steering control, increasingly more aerodynamic shapes and even lighter weight, all factors that benefit performance.

The distinctive symbol of these wheels is in fact their spokes: the G3 spoke pattern makes the structure extremely stiff, reducing to a minimum loss of the energy transferred by the cyclist to the bike. At the same time, the technology applied to construction of the rims ensures a control experience so excellent that it sculpts the ideal trajectory. What’s more, the new Bora rims have an internal 23-millimetre bed optimized for tires in a class higher than the previous models, therefore guaranteeing a larger surface in contact with the ground that benefits aerodynamics and trajectory control.

But what makes Bora wheels a top-of-the-range solution is their aerodynamics: integration between the rim and the tire has been designed to have a drop-shaped profile that creates a more dynamic airflow. Resistance to headwind is in this way 13% less than with the previous model, and it drops to 80% in a 15-degree side wind.
On the lightness front, the weight of the rims has been reduced by 135 grams compared to the previous version, thanks to the adoption of state-of-the-art engineering solutions like H.U.L.C. (Handmade Ultra-Light Carbon) molding, which enables an excellent balance of carbon fiber and resin. A reduction that does not compromise performance in the three typical pedaling conditions: slipstream, uphill and downhill.

The two options are Bora Ultra WTO with 7 groups of three spokes and Bora WTO with 8 groups. The Ultra WTO version uses CULT (Ceramic Ultimate Level Technology) bearings and adopts the rear hub constructed with the same top-of-the-range carbon fiber. Finally, Aero Mo-Mag technology results in completely concealed nipples, again to the benefit of aerodynamics.

Both models are only available in a disc-brake version in three different sizes: 35 millimeters, 45 millimeters and 60 millimeters.
