Grand Opening Ride to FIM Awards 2023


Silverstone, August 3rd

The Ride to the FIM Awards - the Future of Motorcycling - is back. The project that the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme launched for the first time in 2022, with the aim of promoting the annual Celebration of World Champions, this year will be held for the first time in the UK in Liverpool on 2 December, together with key topics for the future of motorcycling.

The Ride to FIM Awards kicked off at Silverstone on the occasion of the British MotoGP Grand Prix on 4/6 August.
Thursday 3 August, the FIM opened the doors to its hospitality unit in the MotoGP paddock. Hundreds of enthusiasts were able to visit the FIM Hospitality unit including its various work areas, meeting rooms, hospitality area and also taste the prestigious catering. In addition they were able to participate, using a QR Code, in the draw for two VIP Experience Tickets, which will give the lucky ones the chance to participate in the Red Carpet, the Gala Dinner and the actual 2023 FIM Awards.
In the afternoon. The Two Wheels for life - Day of Champions auction was held on the Main stage at Silvestone, riders of the MotoGP circus offered them memorabilia, the proceeds of which will be donated to the association that deals with charity projects in Africa. The FIM contributed to the auction with two VIP Experience tickets which were finally sold for an incredible £4,200 Pounds Sterling.

Andrea Coleman CEO of Two Wheels for Life Charity said. “Two Wheels for Life is very proud to be supported by the FIM Foundation. We are proud to show that motorcycles are saving lives across the Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Motocross MXGP world stage which will be held in Matterley Basin (UK) on the weekend of 23/24 September, will host the second event of the Ride to FIM Awards, thanks to the collaboration of Infront Moto Racing and the ACU National Motorcycle Federation, this is scheduled for Friday 22 September.

Fifty young riders have enthusiastically signed up to the initiative launched by ACU, these riders come from various motorsport disciplines and will form the audience for the workshops. 
The main theme will be the training of young people regarding how to approach their media duties and how to act in their work environment in a professional way. "Strategies and behaviours for the best approach towards the media and their work environment", exceptional panelists will speak at the workshop including Roger Harvey a motocross rider from the 60s and today an HRC Advisor; Shaun Simmons Team manager Gabriel SS24 KTM, as well as experts in the field plus Press Officers from the major factory teams.

The third step of the Ride to FIM Awards is dedicated to motorsport enthusiasts who will be able to meet some of the legends of British motorcycling at Motorcycle Live, the exhibition dedicated to two wheels to be held at the NEC, the Birmingham based exhibition centre from 18 to 26 November.

On Saturday 25 November on the Black Horse Stage, former World Champions will be on parade, including Carl Fogarty and James Toseland, multiple FIM Superbike World champions, David Thorpe 3-times FIM Motocross World Champion and others, who will answer questions from James Whitham, and the audience. There is also a challenge that will put the public and champions to the test on the racing culture of the past World Champions. Winners will have the opportunity to attend the FIM Awards.

Finlay McAllan, Managing Director of Motorcycle Live said “To be able to welcome a multitude of World Champions, and the FIM to Motorcycle Live on Saturday 25 November is something we're really excited about. The Blackhorse stage, hosted by James Whitham, will form the centre of the action, with FIM Day allowing visitors to meet riders, listen to their interviews and racing stories, and be part of a true spectacle of racing talent from past and present heroes.

Finally, on the afternoon, Saturday 2 December in Liverpool, it will be possible to meet all the 2023 World Champions, from over 40 motorsport disciplines, available for selfies and autographs from 15.00 to 17.00 at the ACC Arena
