AI Generative Design _ The Clayborn floor

Biella (Global Headquarter Bardelli Group): the continuous investments in research and development in technology field represent since ever an important core inside the Bardelli Group, a is a consolidated and dynamic industrial company and a reference in the high-quality ceramic world, with its brands Ceramica Bardelli, Ceramica Vogue e Appiani.

Between the more recent innovated methods introduced by the Group, experimentation and novelties in Artificial Intelligence field that, among different applications, is able to create images and products for architecture and design. The “generative design” has become increasingly established in recent years, bringing a revolution also in the industrial sector: a revolution that Bardelli Group is living with excellent results, which means perfect harmony between aesthetic and functionality.

Clayborn”, a floor collection with a pattern realized thanks to “generative models” of AI, meaning neutral nets able to create starting from the beginning new images based on a series of examples analyzed during the acquisition phase.

The new product comes from an unusual partnership between Bardelli Group and Clayborn whisky, that combines tradition with innovation thank to the clever research of primary materials present in Westerwalt caves were clayey water with 35 million years have been used to create a whisky with unquestionable organoleptic properties.

It is from the same clay that Ceramica Bardelli has been able to obtain its new Clayborn collection by linking the mining tradition of the place with the innovation of artificial intelligence, thus being able to generate an infinite texture, combining the best graphics of stones, cements and terracotta.

A design that considers the best of the flooring trends, achievable thanks to artificial intelligence that allows to generate a new material not present in nature.

Starting from an analysis and scanner phase of different natural stones and clays, were generated as many images as possible of the material representative of natural stone. Thanks to this system of creative artificial intelligence, Bardelli Group brings creative innovation of uncountable examples to use for print on tiles, through new forms of collaboration between designer and print technologies on design surfaces.

The “Clayborn” floor in industrial design field is endorsement of a futuristic vision and trend which is developing. In these first applications from Bardelli Group, the entire creation process was done in a synergic work, side by side between technologies and designer, whose role is essential in the first phase of selecting material, checking, finishing, adjustment and optimization of final output. The artificial intelligence is partner of the whole process, multiplier of creativity, with always different and never predictable products as results.

The new product has been designed and realized in porcelain stoneware, characterized by a three-dimensional surface that guarantees the non-slip properties. The Clayborn floor is available in a double format 60x60 cm e 60x120 cm.

In the artificial intelligence field, Bardelli Group signed a partnership with Digital Design, a famous design studio based in Fiorano Modenese (MO) that, through an important cooperation with AImageLab laboratory of Unimore (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia), developed a generative system for realization of digital images for print on surfaces, creating a license.

The technological revolution is radically changing also the sector of ceramic tiles and the transition from analogical to digital print opened new horizons for unlimited creativity. Bardelli Group is confirmed as a reality that focuses more and more on innovation and new technologies, confirming its pioneering vocation in design world, to increase and at the same time to be more competitive on market, involving and supporting the staff during new challenges of artificial intelligence and introducing a new era in surface design world.
