FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., May 8, 2024 – After two double podiums to start the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) season, Hyundai Motor America will look to repeat last year’s strong performance at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in hopes of taking the lead in the Driver’s and Manufacturer’s Championships at its home race weekend the Motul Course de Monterey Powered by Hyundai N.
Headed into this race, three of the top five positions in the IMPC TCR class driver standings are occupied by Hyundai drivers. Bryan Herta Autosport’s (BHA) No. 76, No. 98 and No. 33 Hyundai Elantra N TCR entries occupy second, third and fourth respectively. Denis Dupont and Preston Brown lead the Hyundai’s in the No. 76 Elantra N TCR, followed by Mason Filippi and Mark Wilkins 50 points behind in the No. 98 Elantra N TCR, while Harry Gottsacker and Robert Wickens in the No. 33 Elantra N TCR sit in fourth.
This third round of the IMPC schedule is set for Saturday, May 11, with the green flag flying at 1:55 p.m. PT for the two-hour event.
Previous IMPC Performance
At the second round of IMPC competition in Sebring, Fla., the Hyundai Elantra N TCR stable showed strong pace throughout the weekend, with multiple entrants moving up in the standings after the conclusion of the two-hour event. The race was highlighted by a thrilling conclusion that saw newcomers StarCom Racing in the No. 12 Elantra N TCR lead the No. 33 BHA entry to a second and third place result.
After a second-place finish in their first race of the season at Sebring, StarCom Racing will rejoin the Hyundai field at Laguna Seca in the No. 12 Hyundai Elantra N TCR with co-pilots Nick Tucker and Andy Lally. The Victor Gonzalez Racing Team will also return, fielding the No. 99 Elantra N TCR piloted by Victor Gonzalez, Jr. and Tyler Gonzalez as well as the No. 80 Elantra N TCR with the driver duo of Chase Jones and Morgan Burkhard.

Hyundai Returns to the Nürburgring
Hyundai will once again be entering the Nürburgring 24 Hours taking place May 30 - June 2, 2024. Mason Filippi, Mark Wilkins, Harry Gottsacker and a final driver to be confirmed will be piloting the Hyundai Motor America entry in this year’s race. After a strong performance in 2023, achieving a 1-2 finish in the TCR class, Hyundai will look to repeat its success at the legendary German circuit. The 2024 event signifies the largest team effort Hyundai has yet brought to the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with three Hyundai Elantra N TCR cars entered by the manufacturer to chase a fourth consecutive class win. In addition, Hyundai will debut a modified specification IONIQ 5 N to compete at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) prior to the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring race on May 30.

Hyundai will spark even more excitement at the 102nd Running of the PPHIC on June 23, 2024.
Two 641-horsepower IONIQ 5 N cars will go after the Electric Production SUV/Crossover record as part of a four-car effort by Hyundai. The two production-based IONIQ 5 N cars will be piloted by Paul Dallenbach and Ron Zaras. Two additional IONIQ 5 N models will be driven by Dani Sordo and Robin Shute.
Hyundai is documenting the PPIHC build, development and competition through a four-part docuseries entitled Lightning in the Throttle. The first episode is available now for streaming on Hyundai’s YouTube channel.
Hyundai Hope On Wheels
In 2024, Hyundai Hope On Wheels has pledged to donate $100 for every lap a Hyundai Elantra N TCR is in the lead during every race of the season. To date in 2024, Hyundai Hope On Wheels has raised $2,100 to fight childhood cancer through two events.
