Hyundai Motor America (HMA) will look to take the top step on the podium at the O'Reilly Auto Parts Four Hours of Mid-Ohio at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course building on a string of strong performances. The manufacturer has secured double-podium results in each of the three events it has entered in the 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) season, but an outright win has remained elusive. The Hyundai Elantra N TCR has shown strong pace across a variety of tracks and will look to continue that trend in Lexington, Ohio. Hyundai will further its championship pursuit as the automaker looks to take the points lead in the fourth round of the season.

Drivers Mason Filippi and Mark Wilkins lead Hyundai’s effort, holding second place in the Drivers’ Championship, with Preston Brown and Denis Dupont close behind in third.

This fourth round of the IMPC schedule will take place Sunday, June 9, with the green flag set to fly at 12:35 p.m. EDT for the four-hour event.

  • Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course: 2.258-mile, 13-turn road circuit
  • Championship Standings: Second place for the No. 98 Elantra N TCR drivers Mason Filippi and Mark Wilkins

Previous Performance at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
Hyundai will take on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the first time since 2022 after a hiatus in the 2023 IMPC season. In its last visit to the racetrack, Hyundai achieved a 1-2 finish, notching the brand’s first win of the 2022 season.

Kumho FIA TCR World Tour Travels to America and Joins IMSA Mid-Ohio Race Weekend
HMA will be joined by Hyundai Motorsport GmbH (HMSG) at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour (TCR WT) travels to America for the third round of the 2024 season. Two 25-minute races will take place on Saturday, June 8, with the green flag waving on Race 1 at 8:30 a.m. EDT and Race 2 getting underway at 5:45 p.m. EDT. Italy-based BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse enters the Mid-Ohio round leading the Drivers’ and Team Championship fights as drivers Norbert Michelisz, Néstor Girolami and Mikel Azcona prepare to compete at the challenging Ohio circuit. Harry Gottsacker and Mark Wilkins, class winners at last weekend’s Nürburgring 24 Hours and regulars in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, join the TCR TW grid in Bryan Herta Autosport-run Elantra N TCRs for the Mid-Ohio event.

Hyundai Hope On Wheels
In 2024, Hyundai Hope On Wheels has pledged to donate $100 for every lap a Hyundai Elantra N TCR leads during every race of the 2024 IMSA IMPC season. Through the first three events of this year’s campaign, Hyundai Hope On Wheels has raised $8,800 to fight childhood cancer.

Hyundai Triumphs Again at the Nürburgring 24 Hours
This past weekend, Hyundai returned to Germany’s iconic Nürburgring to take on the grueling Nürburgring 24, securing a podium sweep in the TCR class at the historic 25-km track. Despite a challenging, weather-shortened race, drivers Mason Filippi, Harry Gottsacker, Bryson Morris and Mark Wilkins stayed focused. The crew took home the win for Hyundai Team Americas in spectacular fashion after heavy fog only allowed for seven hours of racing. This victory is Hyundai’s fourth-consecutive win at the Nordschleife.

Work Continues for Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
Also at the Nürburgring, Hyundai unveiled the new IONIQ 5 N TA Spec race car. A pair of these heavily modified IONIQ 5 N race cars will accompany two production-based entrants at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) later this month as Hyundai looks to claim the Electric Production SUV/Crossover and Electric Modified SUV/Crossover records.

Both sets of EVs will take on the 12.42-mile (20-km) course that climbs over 4,700 feet (1,438 meters) across 156 turns. The daunting course represents one of the most difficult challenges in motorsports, featuring ever-changing weather and high-altitude conditions that affect both vehicles and drivers.

Hyundai is chronicling its PPIHC build, development and competition through a four-part docuseries entitled Lightning in the Throttle. The first episode is streaming now on Hyundai’s YouTube channel.
