Hankook Tyres as Original Fitment on new Audi A4 models

Audi has chosen #hankook tyres as the original fitment for the new generation of the audiA4 and A4 Avant. The new audiA4 models will be factory-equipped in various sizes of the company’s high-end flagship model Ventus S1 evo² in 17, 18 and 18 inches. The tyres, which are produced at the company’s cutting-edge EU manufacturing facility in Hungary, feature an especially low rolling resistance without sacrificing performance and savety.

Premium tyre maker #hankook is supplying the original fitment tyres for the new generation of the audiA4 and A4 Avant as of market start. The premium car manufacturer’s bestselling model family will be fitted with the high-performance #hankook tyre Ventus S1 evo² in sizes 225/50R17Y, partially also as extra load (XL) version, as well as 245/40R18Y (XL) and 245/35R19Y (XL).

“All newly developed technologies of the new audiA4 generation particularly focus on reducing drive resistances as well as the subsequent reduction of CO2 emissions,” explains Ho-Youl Pae, Head of #hankook Tire Europe. “Our high-end tyre Ventus S1 evo² were equally developed, using the very latest innovative technologies in order to live up to these high requirements in terms of sustainability. After already fitting the #audi TT and TTS with our tyres, we are very pleased to be able to now also supply original fitment tyres for the new A4 family.”

The #hankook Ventus S1 evo² is manufactured in Europe and demonstrates optimum performance even under demanding conditions in terms of precise handling, outstanding braking ability and high directional stability. The use of high tensile yet extremely lightweight steel cord material, which is also used for #hankook racing tyres in the DTM, means the Ventus S1 evo² still enables highly dynamic driving even under permanently challenging conditions. The development of the Ventus S1 evo² took the ever more important environmental aspects into account, resulting in a significantly reduced rolling resistance and low rolling noise.

“It was our ambition to develop a low consumption tyre with a low rolling resistance, without sacrificing its performance especially in safety-relevant areas such as wet and dry braking as well as wet handling,” explains Klaus Krause, head of the European Technology Centre (ETC), where #hankook coordinates the tyre development for #audi AG vehicles. “With the Ventus S1 evo² we are able to deliver a tyre that successfully combines dynamics and comfort as well as wet grip and low rolling resistance, in order to best meet the requirements of our customers. The Ventus S1 evo² is also a perfect example of the implementation of our Kontrol Technology* philosophy in the development process.”

Currently, 50 engineers and technicians are working at Hankook’s European development center in Hanover, Germany on tailor-made tyre solutions for European car manufacturers. It is here that the #audi tyres are developed and tested. The tyres for the new audiA4 and A4 Avant models are manufactured at the company’s European high-tech production facility in Hungary, which specializes in the production of passenger car and SUV tyres for the European market and is one of the most modern production facilities in the world.

* Kontrol Technology

Derived from the English terms Kinetic (for movement) and Control (for control), #hankook Tire Kontrol Technology reflects the best possible controllability of the interaction between the driver, the vehicle and the road by the tyres during the journey. Kontrol Technology has been developed in order to provide the vehicle driver with all currently available benefits of the latest #hankook tyre technology in terms of safety, driving characteristics, comfort and environmental compatibility.
