Kajsa Dahlberg, who led the #praksis residency Nature Scribbles and Flesh Reads in March 2022, opens her solo exhibition, The Tidal Zone, this Friday 25 November, at Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation. The exhibition presents Dahlberg's ongoing research into environmental pollution and its effects on human and non-human bodies.

Dahlberg's works weave connections between the individual and the collective, structures and bodies, reception and perception. In them, multiple discourses intertwine. Historical materials are juxtaposed with specific, subjective narratives. The emotional and the political become unstable arenas in permanent negotiation.

Supported by Index, Residency 21, Nature Scribbles and Flesh Reads, brought together a group of artists through open call to collectively research relationships between the body and the environment. The impact of chemicals and toxins on human and non-human bodies formed their particular focus. The residency supported Dahlberg's research towards The Tidal Zone and the residency group continues to work together. A publication arising from their activity will be launched at Index and #praksis in January 2023.
